• 14th/15th/16th Easter weekend: The Somerford Beefeater at Somerford, Christchurch, Dorset Organised by dave Barnes, details from him are:

The old hands will remember the Salisbury Easter weekends. Rain, snow, sleet, sunshine as we left. People turned up, went. BUT we had time to talk to each other, time to play, time to learn.

This is an ideal first event for new members in the South, if you’re not sure this is for you, come along and try us at The Somerford Beefeater at Somerford, Christchurch, Dorset (the Bournemouth end). I need you from the Saturday to the Monday. If anyone wants to turn up from Friday PM, they are welcome! Camping and parking space is limited. I’ve got you a circle of trees for shelter!

I suggest a combat contest to keep the arena in constant use, although there will be other displays, or 2 arenas. I want you to turn up, wear the kit and have fun, sorry no archery at present.

Sorry there’s no cash but this annual event will hopefully lead into other more profitable events, such as those listed under my link.

From Southampton, down A35 to Somerford roundabout, straight over. From the frozen north, don’t come the Blandford way. From Salisbury – Ringwood to B3347 to Christchurch bypass, go north (left) to Somerford roundabout (Sainsbury’s to left, then Little Chef) The Somerford is large mock Tudor to your right, go straight down left hand side, you’ll see the trees.

MAY

• 12th/13th: CANCELLED Wiltshire County Show, Lords Hill showground, A350 just South of Warminster. Multi Soc show Organised by the Dorset Levy. 1 main arena event per day, plus 1 or more small bashes in out own side arena. Living History, archery OK in main arena, Archery Contest for re-enactors over the weekend, handguns OK.
• 19th/20th: PROBABLY CANCELLED Further Details to come. Battle of Shrewsbury. 1400s, market.
• 26th/27th/28th (Bank Holiday w/e): This is ON, let HQ know if you can make it ASAP.

Welsh National Motorcycle Show. Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, between Hereford and Llandovery. A  large event same as last year. Same format and number of days.

JUNE

• 2nd/3rd: Private seminar for re-enactors and trainers at Dave Woodwards. Details from Dave Barnes are:

This private venture will turn into a regular feature of seminars, both in the open and at selected venues. "My Lord Mortimer does command a Muster" at Dave’s to promote European Martial Arts to the re-enactor, weapons and martial arts enthusiast whilst being a close approximation of a medieval muster as is possible, with selected traders and a variety of experts giving basic and masterclass lessons and a battle.

Aimed at the trainer or re-enactor who is serious about displaying authentic combat techniques, these events will not be open to the public. Unfortunately, I have to pay the experts, Dave, helpers, etc. Normal price to the rest is £20 per day. To established BPAS members, £15 – or I can pay you for a range of help!

Dave needs paid people as follows: local helpers, accredation personnel for battle, experienced first-aider, assistance to help run the battle safely.

• Saturday 23rd:Longley Primary School, Longley, Glous. (nr Quedgeley). Small school show, some expenses. Usual display stand, 2 arena events, shoot the knight, handguns OK. Need about 10 people, but the more the merrier.
• 30th/1st July: CANCELLED Barons Revolt. Beehive Farm, Rolyston, Derbyshire. Multi Soc show.

JULY

• 14th/15th: Battle of Tewkesbury at GupsHill Manor Public House site, Old Gloucester road.The biggest one of the year. Aerial picture of the battle site

AUGUST

• 4th: Broad Chalke. Local show of Eves in Sailisbury area. An arena event,static display and shoot the knight. Some expenses. Won't need much in the way of extra bits and pieces ---no sense in bring loads of stuff--- they will be happy with what ever we do. Lots of hands on stuff for the children and adults,loads of chat,and a nice little bash in the arena.
• 11th: Bloxwich Carnival.  one day event but not a local show at all. We need a good turn-out. Good expenses and camping from Friday evening.   Will include a carnival procession, as well as display in our own arena. Archers and hand-gunners needed so a bit of doubling up with combat will be required. Should be a fun event if the weather is OK
• 25th-27th, August Bank Holiday: Cosmeston Medieval Village. Not our show, but we have an invite for the weekend for anyone interested. Contact Dave Woodward for details if you are interested.

SEPTEMBER

• 8th/9th: Leominster Medieval Fair. Recreation of the battle of mortimers cross 2nd February 1461. This is a multi-society event that we are helping organise, the format is along the lines of other multi-soc shows we have attended. Camping, beer tent, food wagons, traders and entertainment. Just off the A49 Leominster Bypass, Herefordshire. Traders welcome please contact the organisers. Re-enactment groups please contact British Plate Armour Society.Click HERE for further show details.
• 22nd/23rd: Wiltshire County Show (postponed from May). Lords Hill showground, A350 just South of Warminster, should be well signposted. Multi Soc show Organised by the Dorset Levy. 2 or more small bashes in our own side arena. times not known, but probably not before 1200, plus as much practice/mucking about as people want to do.

Camping from Friday, beer tents, food vans open from Friday evening. Opens to public at 10:00 each day after which you can't get cars on to site so best to turn up before this. If not you will have to park in the public carpark and walk in, we will have a cart to help transport kit from the carpark if necessary.

NOVEMBER

• 17th/18th: Re-enactors market, Oxford. Usual chance to browse and buy.
