BPAS Salisbury Funday Script 1998
Based on actual events. A unit of troops marching South to join Henry 5ths army heading
for France. This campaign later leads to the battle of agincourt.
Whilst marching through Salisbury get into fight with locals who think they are French
invaders. Several a people die (mainly by drowning in the river). The commander eventually
turns up and restores order.
This is a "what if the city had a better militia and some real French had turned
up and Monty Python had been invented..." sort of script. After all it is a Fun Day
Troops (including some mercenaries) marching to Portsmouth through Salisbury to embark
for France with Henry the 5th
At Fisherton Bridge, start hassling local women. ("She's a witch...", etc)
Locales get annoyed and call for city militia
Fight breaks out between Locals and Troops (locals think troops are French, are annoyed
about the treatment of their women etc.)
Locals do not do very well against the armoured troops. Very hammed up fight, falling in
"River", locals with clubs and sticks, Run away... , violence inherent in the
system... etc.
Militia arrive - better equipped and more organised, have been told this is a French
invasion!.
Fight between Troops and Militia, locals break off, change shirts and come back as more
militia
2 real French turn up and start confusing things even more. (Bad French accents, Join
Troops to further convince locals they are French etc)
Troop commander turns up, Troops and Militia realise mistake and break off. Notice the
real French!
Troops and militia gang up to attack French, French buy off mercenary unit from troops
to invade Salisbury. 2 rough sides form, still much confusion about who is on what side.
Both sides clash. Due to side swapping everyone confused as to who is on what side so
general melee breaks out - Further side swapping, kill everyone, capture prisoners for
ransom etc.
If French win Salisbury is invaded and looted. If English win it is saved.
THE END.
