RAF Lynham 1995 - 2/5

Sir Edmund De Thorpe and Sir Waterly of the White Vale round 2.

In this picture Sir Waterly has changed weapons, obviously having had no luck with his sword and shield against Sir Edmunds two-handed sword. He has chosen to try a two-handed flail, this is a weapon developed from the agricultural grain flail. It consists of a 3-4 foot haft, with a 1 foot studded, or spiked, metal bar attached by a length of chain. You can just about make out the blurred image of the bar, this shows the speed at which it could be wielded. A weapon such as this would be quite capable of crushing armour and severely injuring the wearer.

However this change of weapons it to no avail as Sir Waterly is finally defeated. Here we see Sir Edmund administering the Coup-de-grace with a thrust into the unprotected armpit.
