| Start: 05/05/2007 End: 07/05/2007 BPAS Show: NO Confirmed: YES | |
| Location: | Rockingham Castle, Rockingham, Leicestershire LE16 8TH |
| Description: | Large Multi-soc, multi period show. 1st year, sounds
like its going to be populer and large. Being organised by call to arms
and Sally green with help from other traders and experienced
re-enactors. Quote from Duke Henry: "History Fair" will be a huge multi-era show, with thousands of re-enactors from all over the British Isles and abroad. Battles, Bands, Beertents! Market, Minstrels, Mayhem! Plastic and LH Camping from 3rd to 8th. The LH and plastic camps back on to each other and they are going to try and get our spaces in both as close as possible. IMPORTANT: Gate access is via a secret gate code that has to be quoted and a defined number of members, so it is vital that we know you are coming, including children. Once they have counted in the numbers expected for the group no more will be let in. We will send the code only to those that have informed us they are attending, do not give it to anyone else, member or not, get them to contact craig or Dave W so they get added to the list!!. Market all weekend, open on 4th for re-enactors only. 2 battles/day. 1 dark age, 1 medieval. Plus roman, English civil war and napoleonic period displays. Can do both if suitable kit. I.e. no plate and correct helmets & clothes for the dark-age, have checked required standards and as long as it looks OK at 6 feet you are OK. There is 1.5 to 2hrs between the battles. Various Food suppliers, beer tents, bands and caterers. See the website on the link below for more details. We will have a LH camp, so let us know if you wnt to bring your tent. Note that it sounds like the LH camp is closest to the battlefield. The plastic camp could be a bit of a walk!. So armour storage in LH camp can be arranged for those in plastic. Opening Times: Saturday 5th May 2007; The event opens to the public at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Sunday 6th May 2007; The event opens to the public at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Monday 7th May 2007; The event opens to the public at 10 a.m. and closes at 4.30 p.m. No vehicle access to or from the plastic and LH campsites between 9:00 and 18:00 each day. If you arrive outside this you will have to park in car park, and carry kit in, or wait until the evening. If you want to leave before 18:00 any day you need to get your tents down and packed in the morning and move car to the car park. Dogs on led at all times. Water points are a bit of a hike from campsite (up to 0.5 mile depending on location within the camp!!) but can drive to them unless ground so wet cars can't move. We will try and organise transport runs to fill up as much as possible each time water has to be refilled. Open fires allowed in LH camp, but not plastic. Can use BBQ's in plastic if off the ground or remove turf and replace. This clashes with the Cosmeston show. We can book both so members can go to the one the prefer, just let us know which one you want to do so we can let the organisers know the numbers expected at each. |

Cosmeston, history through the ages |
| Start: 27/05/2007 End: 28/05/2007 BPAS Show: NO Confirmed: YES | |
| Location: | Cosmeston Medieval Village, 5 miles west of Cardiff on the B4267 Lavernock Road from Sully to Penarth. |
| Description: | Multi period show - "Join us at Cosmeston Medieval
Village for travellers from other time and places - the ever popular
warriors of ancient Greece plus the Duke of Wellington infantry. Also
watch out for Tudor Time Travellers and Queen Victoria's Redcoats" Its a low key affair, theirs no contracted booking and no expenses, just an invite. We are welcome to come along and "hang about" as Nick at Cosmeston puts it. They try to keep the number of medievals down so as not to eclipse the other periods. We won't have a LH camp so plastic only, thiers no planned medieval battle, Nicks comment was "The non medieval groups will be doing a variety of displays through the day. I don't have a medieval combat display booked - although I may be able to squeeze one in.", So expect it would be up to those their to try and arrange something, there will be some other medieval groups their but don't know who. If you want to go along please let us know as usual so I can let other members know and give Cosmeston some idea of numbers. If no-one is interested then thats also fine, I think it would pretty much be a social weekend, wandering about the site in kit and possibly some sort of battle/tournament if you can arrange it. |
