21-22 May

Wessex Show

Start: 21/05/2005 End: 22/05/2005 BPAS Show: YES Confirmed: YES
Location: Woodlands,showground, Frome. On the B3092 (5 mins north of the A303).
Description: ==================================
Clashes with Rookwood school on Sat. Take your pick, Rookwood is small local really only needs the locals, so the rest should treat this as the main event for the weekend. If you've already planned to do Rookwood and want to change please take to Eve 1st so she can make sure there are still the numbers to do Rookwood.
=================================
Lots of stalls and exhibits to look around. Main arena events including the white helmets motorcycle display team, classic vehicles (civilian and military).

We are doing a small LH encampment and stall with our own side arena, due to the clash and lower numbers will not plan on a main arena event, will just do our own thing in the small arena. Mixture of practice, drill and combat displays whenever anyone wants. Will plan in a couple of tourneys or small skirmishes. Can use the handguns if anyone wants to?

Camping available all weekend from Friday. There is beer tent and entertainment (I.e. bands, commedians etc) in the evenings, plus the usual campsite merriment :) This is normally a good fun, relaxed, low key event to start the season. Suitable for all levels of kit as there's no authenticity, or even period, requirements being put on us by the organisers, but obviously hope everyone will do their best as usual. Remember loan kit and costume is available if you let us know you need it.

THE REALLY IMPORTANT BIT

It is absolutely, positively vital that I get Car registrations in plenty of time for passes. Without them you WILL NOT be able to gain access to the site, without a lot of hassle for you, and more importantly me, on the day!!! You may end up having to pay to get in, then we have to claim it back.

Access is possible any time Friday. On Saturday and Sunday no cars will be allowed to drive onto the site after 9:15 (the public are admitted at 10:00) So aim to arrive before that (you also want to avoid the public traffic if possible). If you have to arrive after, you will have to park in the carpark, and carry your kit in, if this happens come and find us and grap some help.

Theres a dedicated parking area for participants which cars have to moved to after unloading,if you've only got a small amount of kit then best bet is to park there straight away and carry it in.

Its held in a field next to a local pub, with camping. There will be some arranged battles and then you can do as much else as you want before and after.

The site is open from 5 o-clock on the Friday 19th August. The Stags have requested that people bring only small tents as the extra field they usually have at the pub is not available (if you are using a larger tent then please arrange to share to make the most of the space). So space is very limited this time. The pub will be open to the public as well as ourselves but they do serve food.

Directions:

From the centre of Ilminster
take the road to Langport / Curry Rivell B3168
This road passes through a few villages before Hambridge.

The pub is on the left in the village, called "The Lamb & Lion". The camping is at the rear.

Due to circumstances parking and camping will be a bit tight but please bear with us.
The arena area should be available all day, so its a case of if you want to play before or after the battle its OK

If you'd like to attend please let me know so I can let the Stags know how many to expect.

Clashes with the invite to the Age Of Pendas do in Shaftsbury, but different parts of the country so take your pick based on personal preference and convenience. Unfortunately I can't make either that weekend due to a previous engagement, so have fun if you attend either.

A few of the locals have arranged to go along and do a small battle followed by folk in armour generaly looking the biz and a static display of hard kit,they don't need a huge number, but if anyone else is interested they are welcome. There is a meal thrown in and its all for a good cause, raising money for cancer research, hopefuly the local paper will be covering it etc.

Starts at 5 and we are on between half past and sixish,basicaly when all who are comming are ready,though not too late as we will be done before the light goes,then we are in the hall looking good.
