============================================

Every now and again we get to do something out of the ordinary. These events have ranged from the siege of the Alamo, fighting inside York Minster to crewing/fighting Leonardo's MBT.

Now I have an event that will stretch your performance skills!

Over the weekend of 27/28th September I invite you to participate in Run With the Daleks (working title). This event is a world first - the use of Daleks in an arena event with AFV's.

As a team leader or helper, you will be responsible for helping get your Dalek into/out of the arena and assembling your team.

The bare bones of the event:
A group of people will surround each Dalek to hide them from view.
An explosion! People start running and dying.

One of you will grapple your Dalek, to be killed. You will then relay any instructions to the Dalek.

One of you will make sure that your team follows the correct path and dies correctly.

Once the people are safe, AFV's will enter the arena and engage the Daleks.

This is the bare bones of the event. A proper script will be worked out once I have all the pieces in place and know the strengths/limitations of the parts.

Besides this, you get to go into SW Model Expo & the Tank Museum for free.

This event is being organised by Event works main

in aid this registered charity The Tank Museum - Bovington

I hope you will accept this challenge. please send you reply to my e mail address with the subject FAO Scene of Extermination Officer (use link below).

Camping on site, or cheap B&B can be arranged.

Start: 09/11/2003 10:30 End: 09/11/2003 14:00 BPAS Show: YES Confirmed: YES
Location: Harnham rec, salisbury
Description: Winter practice in salisbury organised by Eve of the E'Strange companye. Combat & Archery (weather permiting).

22-23 Nov

Old royal naval college,Greenwich

Start: 22/11/2003 11:00 End: 23/11/2003 16:30 BPAS Show: YES Confirmed: YES
Location: Old royal naval college, Greenwich.
Description: Similar to last year, but a bit smaller, we're not doing the large display with the medieval tents.

We will do a static display inside, with usual collection of weapons armour and LH bits, want lots of public interaction and talking, arming the knight etc. Mixture of civilian and armour, so no need for people to be in armour all day. As its inside we don't need the numbers we had last year.

We need this to be good, so best kit please both civilian and military, need to avoid the usual cheats such as wrapping boots in hessian. Stuff hidden under armour, surcoats etc should be OK as long as what shows is not obvious modern .

If your thinking of coming and not sure if your kits up to it get in touch to discuss It as there is loan kit available.

Dave W will have his small tent outside and will do armour making demos. Weather permitting we will do skirmish and tournament combat outside, otherwise it will be matched pairs of fighters in small inside arena.

Access From Friday. Accommodation in rooms with loos, shower kitchen available same as last year, on the floor so will need camping mats etc.

Public access is 11:00 to 16:30 both days, so try to be there before that, remember the congestion charge is in place if you are arriving before 18:00 on the Friday, after that it doesn’t apply

We need ETA and car details for the gate from everyone!.

Contact there is Kirstan Warren (visitors services co-ordinator) any problems ask for her.

I'll leave directions through London up to you, but depending on what direction you come from either the A2 of J2 of the M25, or follow the South Circular and then cut off down the A21 through Lewisham to Greenwich are possible.

Theres a slight confusion about access to the site, we're now pretty sure we have to use the the East gate this year, not the west gate as last year. The Directions to the east gate are below, just in case, the west gate directions are also shown Theres two links to streetmap.co.uk showing the east gate and west gates arrowed. Go to the East gate 1st, if they then tell you to go to the west gate then its not to far. Once at the gate (whichever one) the security guards will let you in. Any probs call Craig or Dave W on their mobiles, or ask for the organiser (see above). Parking is meant to be by the East Gate, but you can drop off at the stable blocks.

East Gate: Once in Greenwich, head through the centre, towards the Cutty Sark. You need to go along Romney Road/Trafalger Road (the A206) and turn down Park Row which takes you towards the river on the East side of the site. The gate should be on your left. Theres a link to streetmap.co.uk below with the arrow where the gate is. Go straight to the gates and hopefully the security guards will let you in. Any probs call Craig or Dave W on their mobiles, or ask for the organiser (see above). You can drop kit off at the stable blocks where the accomedation is, but parking is by the east gate rather than at the stable blocks. Theres a code for the lock on the restroom and the gates where we are staying which I will email to those attending.

West gate: Once in Greenwich, head through the centre, towards the Cutty Sark, bear right towards the cutty sark and collage. The road then does a sharp right, but straight ahead you'll see the Big Black gates into the site. Left at this point is a dead end where the Cutty Sark is moored, so you can turn down here to pull in if necessary, The link below points to a map on streetmap.co.uk. The gates are where the arrow points, on the one way system, at the corner of KING (cutty sark moring), COLL and WILLIAM WALK
